Be Careful What You Say..

I wonder if people think before they speak, write, or text?

I am a pessimist by nature (I'm working on it..sort of). So I assume they do. Even when I say, the most off the wall things, I think of what Im saying. The difference is, do I care how it will will effect others?

I think the phrase "Think before you speak" is not implying that you have a random bout of turrets. I think it simply means, think about how your words will effect others.

Often times, we say things to purposfully hurt or gain a reaction out of people. This passive type of communication is very immature. If you want to make a point, say what you mean. If the person does not accept it, that is their problem.

I recently had a disagreement with a friend, who is known to be passive. Their point of view was not being received by me. So much so, that even a direct approach led me to believe I could change their viewpoint. I eventually did, in a way...Later, I received a text from them that totally eliminated the terms of our agreement and added insult to injury.

Two lessons learned:
1. Me-When Someone tells me how they feel and what their point of view is. I do not have to like it, but I must respect it. It is the truth.

2. My Friend-Stand your ground. Personal happiness is the only happiness that is guaranteed. Do not let people force you into a corner, you might have to fight your way out. When you throw punches someone gets hurt. Like a child being bullied, you stop at nothing to gain your respect.

At the end of the day, be careful what you say, it might be your last words to someone.
